The City has distributed over $200,000 to the community in housing and utility assistance for those who have been financially impacted by the pandemic, which was funded through multiple grants the City applied for and received.  The City recently was successful in obtaining another grant for $550,000 to continue a new expanded program.

If you have been financially impacted by COVID-19, you may be eligible for assistance to help with up to 12 months of rent and utility payments, which can include 3 payments in the future.  Financial impacts can include loss of income, increased child care or medical costs, and costs for retrofits to work from home.  To qualify, household income must be within 80% of the area median income.

Utility payments can be reimbursed at 100%.  For rent payments, landlords are required to accept 80% as total payment for past due rent for the period of March 18, 2020 to March 2021.  The 3 months of rent payment assistance after March is limited to 25% of the total rent.

To apply and/or determine if you are eligible, call United Way by dialing 2-1-1.  Those who meet initial eligibility criteria will be referred to City staff for the application process.  You will be required to submit a verification of income, verification of COVID-19 impact, and a photo ID.  For back rent due, the landlord will need to submit a W-9 form and a City landlord form.
