The City must comply and enforce all stormwater regulations set forth in its Stormwater Permit issued by the Regional Water Quality Control Board. This includes strict requirements for all new development projects to minimize stormwater runoff in order to prevent pollution of draining entering San Lorenzo Creek and the Salinas River.
The Public Works Department also operates an annual silt removal program in portions of the San Lorenzo Creek and Salinas River under a permit issued by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) in order to reduce flooding risks.
Any illicit discharges or hazardous spills should be reported immediately to City Hall at 831-385-3281. After hours, they should be reported by the calling the Police Department non-emergency dispatch number at 831-385-8311.
