One of King City’s top priorities is to facilitate new housing development to address a serious housing need in the community. This applies to all types of housing, including single-family, multi-family, low-income, farmworker, senior and homeless. The City has lowered its development impact fees to encourage an increase in housing development. A seasonal employee housing ordinance has been adopted to accommodate farmworker housing in designated areas. The City has secured State funding for a homekey project to provide permanent housing and services for homeless individuals. The City also operates an Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) to provide temporary rental assistance for low-income eligible households.
