The agricultural industry is central to King City’s economy and community.  Local businesses are responsible for helping to feed not only our community, but the entire country and other areas of the world.  Our agricultural workers are responsible for making this possible and their safety and well-being are extremely important.  Many workers are now arriving for this year’s harvesting activities.

Agriculture is classified as an essential service and exempted from the Shelter in Place Order.  However, the County Health Department, along with the County Agricultural Commissioner and food industry organizations, have created guidelines for agricultural worker safety during the COVID-19 crisis.  The City has developed a contact list of agricultural business and labor contractor representatives to distribute the guidelines and promote safety measures.  The City has coordinated with Mee Memorial Hospital to provide a training session for agricultural employers and the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem prepared a public service announcement for agricultural workers.  The guidelines and video can be found on the City’s website at
