King City has been selected as a host City for the May 15, 2018 stage start of the Amgen Tour of California. The Amgen Tour of California is an annual professional cycling stage race on the UCI WorldTour and USA Cycling Professional Tour. First held in 2006, it has become the United States’ premier annual cycling stage race and one of the most important races in the world. In 2016, millions of spectators followed the race worldwide on a variety of international networks.

The overall race will take place May 13th – 19th and will travel from Long Beach to Sacramento. The race start for the May 15th stage will be held in downtown King City on the 200 and 300 blocks of Broadway Street, which will end in the afternoon at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey County. Everyone will be invited and there will be no cost to view the beginning of the race.
