The King City Recreation Department offers several recreational opportunities for our youth.
Youth Soccer is offered every fall with registration in September. The soccer season is 8 weeks with games on Saturdays. The program focuses on personal development, fundamentals, sportsmanship and having fun. Players of all skills and abilities will benefit. Anyone interested in being a volunteer coach or official should call 385-6748.
Youth Basketball is offered in January, with registrations taking place in December. The King City High School girls’ basketball team has coached the City’s Recreation Department girls teams for the past 10 years.
Girls Fastpitch softball is offered in the Spring. Registration takes place in February with games played March through May. The Recreation Department offers two divisions, 7-10 year olds and 11-14 year olds. The 7-10 year old program teaches players the basic fundamentals of softball using a “soft” softball using coaches and players as pitchers to help develop proper hitting techniques and build confidence. All players play in all games and learn hitting, throwing, catching skills and the techniques of base running.
The 11-14 year old division is played under the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) rules and games are played on a regulation size field and officiated by ASA certified umpires. Players practice fundamentals, build on already developed skills, and learn strategies of the game. Volunteer coaches are needed.
The King City Municipal Pool Complex offers a variety of water fun. Enjoy taking a flying leap off the 1-meter or 3-meter boards into the dive tank., leisurely wading in the 1 ½ foot wade pool for little swimmers or testing your endurance in the 5-lane 25 yard lap pool. The pool opens in June for the summer season and will be open through mid August. Swim lessons for all ages and skill levels are offered. Registration for swim lessons begins in May.
The King City Recreation Department offers Summer Day Camp(See Flyer Below) starting in June each year. Day Camp is an 8 week program offered for youth 6-13 years of age. This drop in programs offers lots of activities for everyone, arts, crafts, cooking, games and outside activities while encouraging sociability with other children.
