Community Development Department
The Community Development Department collaborates with stakeholders and assists the community to grow in an orderly manner, in accordance with the goals and objectives of the City’s General Plan, adopted regulations, laws, development standards, and community desires. The Community Development Department is involved in some of the following activities:
- Advising the City Council and Planning Commission on land use planning and environmental issues.
- Coordinating, reviewing and making recommendations on discretionary applications such as, sphere of influence amendments, annexations, specific plans, conditional use permits, parcel maps, subdivisions, signs, variances, lot line adjustments, architectural review, home occupation permits, building permit applications for Zoning Ordinance compliance with the Zoning Ordinance.
- Reviewing and analyzing discretionary projects for environmental compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act and National Environmental Protection Act.
- Implementing the General Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and other State and Federal mandated programs.
- Writing grants (i.e., community development block grants).
