The City Council recently approved a contract for final design of the Downtown Plaza project, which is planned for the property the City has acquired on the northeast corner of Broadway Street and Vanderhurst Avenue. The conceptual design was approved after four alternatives were prepared and feedback from public workshops and meetings was incorporated. The project is intended to help revitalize the downtown area and provide a place for the public to eat, play, enjoy events, and relax while visiting the downtown. The existing historical building at 110 Vanderhurst Avenue will be renovated and converted to a new Visitor and History Center.
The construction schedule will depend on the ability to obtain the funding needed. A grant application is being prepared to seek State funding assistance. The City is now implementing a community outreach effort to help select specific design features and to make the grant application more competitive. If you would like to participate, please complete the attached survey and return to City Hall or e-mail to email@example.com. Also attached is a preliminary sketch of the park and pictures of design features included in the survey.
